5 THINGS FRESH GRADUATES IN ABA-ENYIMBA CITY CAN DO FOR THEMSELVES

A fresh graduate in Aba who allowed himself or herself to be endowed by the good spirit of the city stands a better chance to be resourceful than graduates from any other cities across Nigeria. I am not saying this because I am “Nwa Aba” (Aba brought up), but because the great entrepreneurial spirit in the city is good enough to turn the financial and social status of any Aba brought up (Nwa Aba) around.

Even students who never believed they had the charisma to do business before they came into Aba have suddenly turned out to become good businesspersons, courtesy of the good spirit of Aba.

In today’s post I want to share with you 5 things fresh graduates can do to be become relevant whether from Abia State Polytechnic, Abia State College of Health and Management Technology, Covenant Polytechnic, Temple Gate Polytechnic, Rhema University etc (Tertiary Institutions in Aba, Abia State).

1.     DON’T ABANDON YOUR TALENT/SKILL WHILE YOU SEEK FOR A PAID JOB
You might be tempted to focus all your energies in the pursuit of a paid job leaving behind to decay all the skills and talents you acquired or developed as an undergraduate but don’t yield to it. Instead, divide your time in such a manner that few hours in a day or a week will still be devoted into practicing for perfection that which you learnt to do while you were an undergraduate of Abia Poly, ABSCOTECH etc.

2.     GO AND LEARN A NEW SKILL
What sets you up for good and apart in the labour market is how much you know. As the day goes by value for good grades and certificate continues to depreciate and only those with added knowledge to their certificates are considered more resourceful. To make you stand out, Aba is Good Online Magazine is here to advise you to go and learn a new skill.

Some of the skills available today include; Fashion designing (tailoring), graphics designing, aluminium works, painting and paint production, customer service and salesmanship, phone repair/maintenance, writing and public speaking mastery, web designing and development, computer programming, hair making and dressing etc.

3.     MAKE NEW MILLIONAIRE FRIENDS
Notwithstanding how intelligent you are sometimes life’s success is about who you know or who God helped you to know by grace. For you to hit the zenith of success in good time or make the first move up the ladder of success, your network of friends must be people who has what you want, knows who has what you want or can be eager to offer their advice to help you get what you want.

Any mistake in this direction of maintaining only the same old friends of your university days as a fresh graduate will simply amount to stagnation in your finances and influence.

4.     SEE OPPORTUNITIES AROUND YOU
Every day we wake up in Aba we are greeted with several opportunities we can comfortably turn around into an additional source of income. It can only be mental blindness (inability to think creatively) that can make anyone living in Aba – Enyimba city not to see opportunities. Aba is well structured and needs even more restructuring. When I look at many things in Aba city which are either not done or done poorly and shabbily [for instance, the heaps of dirt all over the city], all I see are opportunities hovering over the city.

Thousands upon thousands of fertilizers and bio gas can be generated from the numerous heaps of refuse scattered all over the city if the State government or well meaning Abians can wake up and see. Some of these refuses can be recycled and used for something that will not only be valuable to the Abia State Government but also to the individual companies in Aba.

Indeed, Enyimba city, Aba Abia State is blessed, and the earlier you start seeing it with your fresh and eagle eye of a graduate the better your life will be.

5.     ACCEPT TO WORK FOR FREE JUST TO ACQUIRE THE KNOWLEDGE
The urge for instant gratification is the core reason while so many people are still at the level where they are in their finances and social lives. It is common in Enyimba city, Aba (Japan of Africa) that everyone wants to become Oga (The Boss), but the truth remains that that ‘Oga’ you want to become like was once someone’s servant (boy).

Instead of wasting your time running from city to city, town to town, from one job site to another looking for a job you have no experience in, find out something you would want to do in the future, look for an Expert in that field and serve him. By serving him you can pick his brain.

In Aba is Good Online Magazine we believe that the easiest route to greatness is service. So, for you to rise on the fast-track to financial abundance and independence [where Aba can be proud of you,] you must be ready to serve.
