Joint Military Task Force Kills Another 5 IPOB Members Celebrating The Victory of Nnamdi Kalu in Onitsha

Onitsha yesterday afternoon witnessed another bloodshed with the Joint Military Task Force clamping down on pro-Biafrans celebrating the victory of Nnamdi Kanu over DSS at both the Magistrate Court and Federal High Court in Abuja.

Reports gathered from Onitsha has it that the Joint Military Task Force unleashed mayhem on members Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) who were jubilating over the verdict of the Federal High Court cum the Magistrate Court that had earlier in the day ordered the unconditional release of the Biafran leader, leading to the death of 5 civilians who did nothing that deserved a death sentence.

Uncomfortable with the verdict of the court, the Military who had sworn to use all possible means (including forceful means) to endure that Nigeria remains one saw the celebration of the groups and her supporters as a slap on their face began to shoot at them leading to the death of five (5) persons with many others severely injured.

An eye witness who related the situation on ground with ABA IS GOOD ONLINE MAGAZINE from Onitsha said that the trouble began when on hearing of Nnamdi Kanu’s release, members of Indigenous People of Biafra gathered at the statue of the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to jubilate and afterwards proceeded towards the Niger Bridge wherein the soldiers had position to trap them down.

However, it is on record that this is not the first time this kind of situation happened since the protest began in October. Last time in Onitsha, it was nine peaceful Biafran protesters that were sent to early grave including a young lady who was never a part of the protest. So far, over 30 Biafrans had been killed in this process by the Joint Military Task Force, yet President Buhari has never addressed people of his constituency on this.

What is most unfortunate is that none of the Igbo men and women at the Senate House and House of Representatives has raised the issue, calling on the military to desist from shooting and killing peaceful protesters.

Meanwhile, all efforts to get the reaction of the police proved abortive as the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Fegge police station, Mr. Rabiu Garba, was said to have travelled out of Onitsha and Police Public Relation Officer, Mr. Ali Okechukwu could not be reached on phone.

But the one million question is; “if the chief security officer of the State (Anambra) where the serial killing of peaceful protesters by Nigeria Police could not react to defend his subjects, who else will?” No record of clamp down nor killing of protesters has ever been recorded in Aba and Umuahia since the protest began because Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Governor Abia State has always handled the matter with the highest level of professionalism.

Soldiers took the corpse of those they killed to unknown destination.
